Muffler that won't kill turbine noise?

I love the sound of the turbine wheel spooling in the exhaust; I even owned a PSD because the sound is music to my ears.

I found the only way for me to keep the turbine whistle is to run a straight pipe on my 05. The gt3788 seems to have plenty of turbine noise, but running any mufler seems to just kill it.

Does anyone know of a muffler that will keep the exhaust noise level down but retain that awesome turbine noise? Iv tried magnaflow and mbrp but no luck. Now I am considering a donaldson off of a big rig since they seem to have plenty of turbo whistle.

Any one have any first hand experience with this?

Any muffler that does not have packing in it will retain that noise.... mufflers with packing take any high frequency noises away. A smaller donaldson sounds awesome on the cummins.

So I assume the "low end" donaldson mufflers do not have packing in them? Most after market muffers I've found are straight through design with packing...

Yea, the donaldsons i have seen for under 50-60 bucks have no packing.

Rich, I've got a Donaldson 51" and it actually makes my turbine noise louder than the MBRP did. I recommend the Donaldson.

I like the Aeroturbine, buddy of mine has one on an 06 and it sounds great, lots of turbine sound.

Thanks guys! I'll probably give the Donaldson a shot at this point; After searing around for sounds clips on the internet, I see a lot of muffler swapping in my future ;)

If you know someone who chops the exhaust off their 6.4 see if you can get the muffler, its about 14" long, and 13" of it is a solid inner pipe with 3 half inch holes at the outlet and is 3-1/2 I.D. I put one on my 91 CTD and it made absolutely no sound difference from a straight pipe...I only put it on to be able to pull in a "street" class that required a visible muffler.
