My '99 needs a swap... I need some direction.

I have a red '99 3500 Dodge that I'm thinking of pulling the 24v out of and replacing with a 12v. The last two times I replaced the head gasket on the VP engine, I noticed the head had cracks in 11 of the 12 exhaust valve seats. This plus the fact that the block is a #53, makes me very uneasy about doing anything else with it. The good news, is that I have a fresh (108k miles) p-pump engine just sitting around looking for a new home. Now, I'm wandering how big of a chore it is to put the older engine in my '99 and make the gauge cluster work, as well as other problems I may encounter along the way. This is my first post and I hope I'm not in the wrong department.

Thanks for the information sir. As soon as I buy a little gas saver, I'm gonna get started on the swap. It's gonna be an extensive project, as I have a '94 to do an in-frame on... The work never ends. My '99 has 210k miles, and my '94 has 369k miles.
