Well its finally time for me to build my twins set up and I have a few questions. So far I've got my hands on a set of BD R-700 piping and an s475 with a 1.10 housing. I plan on using a stocker off of an 07 as my secondary but will enlarge the wastegate opening to around 26mm instead of 18mm first. Here are my questions, since I have to rotate the housing on the 07 stocker how can I run my waste gate? How do other twins kits solve this problem? And will the 1.10 housing be to small and choke down power/increase drive pressures or spool up nicley and my elevation?

I only plan on using a set of 100hp injectors so this combo should work great.

I build a drain/wastegate bracket combo so I can clock the housing to almost whatever I want. The 3rd gen turbos have locating pins in the housings you will need to remove those before trying to clock them. Most kits keep the HE in its stock configuration and run the I/C tube around the alt. but you still need to take them apart and pull the pins. The external gate can go right between the turbo and manifold. ED makes a spacer/WG combo or you can fab your own. You will need longer studs (if using spacer) and also need to drill the threads from the HE turbos mounting studs so it can be mounted on a flipped manifold. IIRC they are a M10 x 1.50 thread.

Do you have any pictures of the bracket you fabed up just to give me an idea? I've already removed the pins from the HE so that will not be a problem. I've seen the ED set up, and while I like it I want to try to use the stock wastegate first.

Do you think BD piping will allow me to run the HE in it's stock configuration? I would imagine it will have to be clocked.

Thanks for the input. I want to have this thing all put together this week.

You can run it with the wastegate closed for a while, that way you can get it put together. Im running mine that way now while i search for a spring for my external gate.

Would it be worthwhile to run the stock wastegate and an external?

external isnt needed as much with it ported but with a large primary or NOS it is needed.
running with the gate wired shut is NOT recommended as it can easily overspeed and destroy the top turbo possibly wiping out both turbos and even the engine.

I welded a plate to the side of the exhaust housing for the spring wastegate to work on. I've found exhaust housing even though they are cast are a good quality and haven't had any problem. The spring plate isn't a high stress point.I've had one of them running for about 2000 miles now with no problem. I have also seen welded stuff on exhaust housings for lots of miles with no problems.

I think the 1.10 housing is going to be too tight. What exhaust wheel in the s475?
