Speaking with Advance Adapters they said the Ford 271 and Dodge 271 transfer cases were clocked differently.

Could someone please tell me the degrees/angle that a Dodge 271 transfer is set at?

Putting an angle finder on the rear center rib would tell you lickety split.

Thanks, Grin

I don't thin they are clock differently, I'm not 100% but i think if you swap tailshafts, and tail housings, they work. Its alot cheaper to buy a ford case thats for sure.

they are clocked slightly different, I put a 271F behind a 48RE and the output for the front driveshaft was lower by 1 1/4" . I never measured the angle

They are clocked differently, and a Ford front case half will not work in a second gen chassis.

I'm attempting to bolt a Ford 271 Manual to the back of the 47 RH. Input shaft swap and it fits nicely but that TC hangs down below the frame about 7" on a 1972 Ford crew cab. Trying to figure my options...thanks for the input.

I put a ford case in my dodge, and the options as I saw it were either to get a clocking ring or get a dodge case half. I don't recall if there's enough meat on the case to machine it with a different pattern.

I don't have an angle finder so I can't measure it for you. It is damn near straight across with the dodge case though.

Hmm, well I already did a complete rebuild on the Ford along with the new input shaft so that would make sense to just get the case half.

There is a what I would call the center rib on the back of the TC. If you or someone could give a measurement from level on the rear output housing down to the round surface(backside of front output shaft) that would be good enough to give me an idea of how much I could gain.

Basically hold a level and just measure down to the rib and the outermost part of the TC.

I know I'm asking alot and appreciate the help.
