Truck pulling season is almost here for KY, and I have just a few more things to get to finish my truck. The only things I need are a Fluidampr, air intake horn, possibly injectors and CP3, and a Smarty if possible.

The truck is in my avatar. I will be pulling with the KY Outlaws Truck & Tractor Pulling Association in thier new 8500lb 2.5 Street Diesel Truck class. This is my first year pulling this truck and my first year pulling diesels, though I have been in the sport for 10 years in the 2wd gasser classes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin "Bragg"

Seriously.......you might have better luck if you spelled the word correctly.
Maybe you can beg the moderators to correct it.

I believe I have spelled everything right. So please what do you think I miss spelled? And another thing, there is no reason to be a smart ass about this.

The only thing I didn't look at:bang For some reason I thought that was the way it was spelled. Thanks Chris

Any ways back on topic

Any takers?

whats the stats on your truck???? got to be better than the rest

what can you do for me as a sponsor???? what gains can i expect

how much money are we talking about???? money invested should be money gained

do you want it as a lump sum???? you could take the money and run

do you want payments???? every week, every pull, monthly

are you willing to sign an agreement that if you dont hold up your end that i can sue for financial damages???? i got to cover any finanacial loses

what seperates you from everyone else that wants a sponsor???? why do you deserve my money and not some other guy

are you willing to send me pictures of your tow truck, trailer, shop, and house???? i want to know what kind of person im sponsoring, someone that has a filthy house, and just general bad up keep means they will slack in other areas

can you pass a credit check???? dont want my money paying your old credit card debt

can you pass a back ground check???? dont like drug heads, thieves or generally useless people

how many references do you have???? dont want someone that will give me a bad reputation

where do you work at and how long, along with the rest of your work history???? got to make sure you are going to be able to make all the pulls and not have to work

are you financially stable enough to replace the complete drivetrain or any parts that may or will get destroyed pulling???? i dont want to write a fat check to you then hear "whoops, i blew the truck up and i dont want to put it back together"

does your puller have competition insurance to protect my investment???? i want to make sure my investment is secure so if it gets totaled going to and from the pull i can get some kind of compensation in return

as sponsor you got to cover your ass.....

then why in the world would anyone need a friggen sponsor then?
I've never ever had a sponsor, but isn't that what a sponsor is for to help you stay built? to help pay for things you need? cause you can't afford them.
If some one were to sponsor me it would be to benifit both of us as equally as possible. hell i have .com vinyls on my truck and don't ask for anything. and people ask about them ALLLLL the time!

same here, but at my level, i cant expect to get a sponsor because i dont have the time or money to travel all over to big pulls to put their name out there. cant get a sponsor to pay me when i am seeing the same 20 guys at a pull every week.

tho the one night i won at our biggest pulling arena/venue up here my old man was asked about 3-4 times in the stands who built my truck, and i was asked in the pit prolly 4-5 times what shop built my truck.

if i just dished out 3K for a new injection pump for your truck and you blow the motor 2 pulls later and say "im done, im parting the truck out cause i dont have the money to rebuild the motor" guess what, i lose 3K in advertising dollars........

dude, lets get this straight, ur just a nobody that talks **** from behind ur computer. you have nothing going for u... what are you gunna say when dr p doesnt fall? do u know how much money that place makes daily? more than you make in a year:hehe::hehe::hehe:

You going to pull in any Major events besides in KY?

(the following is completely off subject)
And this kills me, why is it Kentucky Outlaw Truck and TRACTOR Pullers Association. They haven't pulled a tractor in years...I thinks that would help them out alot, get get rid of some of the "less" followed classes and add some tractors. Everybody knows that these days, smoke is where it is!!!
(ok, now that thats out of my system)

In turn, when KOTTPA can get more people in the stands, and in the pits, this will help people like you to get more sponsor $$$ Just my $0.02

Sometimes to get what you may need you might have to do some R&D for new products the sponsor is working on. Seems to be easier to get newer companies (more motivated) to work with you.

sponsors:

A mutual means to an end.

I never spent a nickel of my own money in 12 years except the basic startup costs.

You need to have the truck built to a minimum standard - it has to be eye catching, clean, and well executed, not matter what class your in. You and your people must look good at all times as well, and no potty mouth ever, anywhere anytime!!! and it isnt just on the track that you must be like this - its everyday, everywhere you get a chance to shine for your people.

A sponsorship is a full time job wether you like it or not - and if you break - you fix it so you can be at the next show,

Cant afford that - then learn how not to break - cuz heres a fact - that last three or four inches you took the chance wouldnt win you the run anyway - so save the last ditch effort for another day. And you know what - tha tday never comes - either you are a winner, and out front and you know it, or your not...period.

More thoughts on longevity and not breaking - dont scrimp on parts so you can but lots of parts - pick the ones you really need and buy the best there is - so you dont have to buy it three or four times a season.

Last thought of the day - if your a local boy, forget the bigtime sponsors - you dont have wha tthe yare lookin for.

INSTEAD - go about your own town and find 10-15 little operations that will give you 3-4- 5- 600 dollars.

That and prize money will keep you at all of the pulls your personal life will allow

Notice I said "personal life" - cuz you dont have one when you have big sponsors and its become a job.

Unless your wife or girlfriend an kids are into this as much as you - ya gotta say - only 10 runs this year not 25.

Closing note - Sponsors are very easy to get, harder to keep, and even harder to live up to.

Make your choices and go have fun....:blahblah1:$.02

ya gotta say - only 10 runs this year not 25.

35 plus just about broke me and every part I owned. It will only be 10+- for me from now on.

i know stuff breaks but people dont like to use money and if i was sponsoring someone i would make them sign a contract.....

you're right and I don't argue that. Just think though.... even though it's detrimental and dangerous to the owners and trucks, when you have a truck blow up, grenade their trans...in a grand fashion everyone in the stands will be watching and looking at that truck and seeing the sponsors on it. They will also be gathering around the truck in the pits to see more of what happen.

Look at the resent event with Greg. He and his truck have had so much attention.... it's become a house hold topic to even those not really associated with racing.

Don't get me wrong... I'd rather not see anything happen to anyone but, the truth is.... that's what the crowd likes to see along with the pulling or racing. So, if something were to happen while entertaining the crowd..... why not have help from your sponsor to get you back up and running.

I do hear what you're saying though,....money don;t grow on trees !

Ahhh Yes.....Sponsorship....

I have to agree with LOGANSTANFORTH on his points made.....

To draw in a potential sponsor one needs not worry what they can do for themselves with the added money, they need to look beyond and see what they can do for the potential sponsor for his money spent. On any I had secured over the years I have insisted they invest in me in a graduated scale. In our sprint car team we judged this by feature time exposure and not with preliminary event races. The more time our car spent in the big dance the more exposure the sponsor would get which in turn later meant more money for us.Sponsors do not want to hear things like "I want to do this" or "We might do this" and "We may race here and there",they want to hear you say for your dollars spent I am going to make xxx amount of shows to provide you the best exposure for you money Mr.Potential Sponsor.

Same would hold true with sponsors for diesel pullers....
Its not what you need to "finish" your puller that you want our money for we want to hear, its whats the finished product going to do for our business.Sponsors spending money, buy giving cash or products, want results for their money laid out and if that money is for the entire season then it means a entire season.Receiving money to help you attain your goal via sponsorship has to make both sides happy, but I have got to tell you you'd be better off with a sponsorship package sent to shops from yourself or delivered by yourself than you will be trying to get free parts from them here in a open forum.

One thing that does crack me up is those who think just because they make a few good pulls or have done the work themselves they should be the ones getting sponsorship.Sponsorships are earned and the best ones are received by those who can accurately sell themself and the marriage with them and the potential sponsor the best.

One of the best people I have seen give a seminar on sponsorships and their proposal is Ernie Saxton. The money I spent for that seminar allowed me and a close friend to race for a number of years, chase points and a dream.I still to this day say it was the best money I ever spent as it allowed me to have the time of my life....Andy
