My 2000 had the lift pump go again . I replaced it with an air dog 165 truck runs good has plenty of power , but takes long time to start . Was slow to start before I installed the air dog but I thought that was because the lift pump went out. Any suggestions on what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated.:nail: I can't figure it out.

if it builds proper fuel pressure then your VP is on its death bed. the last pump going out may have hurt it a bit.

x2^ Ive seen it kill pumps long before the truck showed any major signs. As long as it ran, I would just drive it and either lay aside the cash for a vp or have one sitting there waiting.

if it wont start when its hot, pour a gallon of water on the top of the vp. if it starts after that then your pump is on its last leg. remember its cooled by fuel and when theres not fuel it gets hot fast. which kills it...

I was afraid that was what it might be just didn't really want to think that was it . Was hoping for something simpler and cheaper

The only other thing I have seen is some vp trucks won't start until the wait to start light goes off. Don't know what the cause is but I've several in my shop that start instantly as long as you wait for the light to go off.
