Bought a truck with a busted timing cover a while back and just got around to it.

Need some advice on a good place to get the parts, while I was in there I'm going to go ahead and stud the head and run a .020 over gasket.

Parts I need that I've thought of
Case
Dowel Pin
Case, cover, IP, vacuum, crank gaskets/seals
Studs
headgasket
Sure I've forgotten some, this'll be the first KDP job I've had to do.

Haven't gotten it tore down yet hope to this week, if so any other parts I need to check gears, oil pump ect. Cracked the housing right about where I've seen most others under the fan hub.

Thanks

Thanks I heard his name come up while searching through some of the older KDP post, but most of them were well older, and wasn't sure if he was still around.

You do have to pull the cam out. It's a 7hrs job to get every thing out. If it's still in the truck. I think it would be easier to pull the motor out and do it right.

Its not a big deal to do it in the truck if you are going to pull the head anyways. Id personally just leave it in the truck, but thats me. Its not that bad a job, just a little time consuming.

Save money and just weld the housing and put it back together

I've seen a bunch of em that didn't damage any gears... just a thought

I'm used to inframes so I don't think it will be that big of a deal, and I wish I had a tig welder but not anytime soon.

And hows Eric, been a while.

Biggest thing is I've never been around when anyones done one and figured all the input from those unfortunate enough to have had to do it would be a big help, and cheap places to get parts help too.

Didn't have a chance to get a hold of snedge today worked late, may be the rest of the week the way it looks.

As before thanks for all the info, and by all means keep it coming I'll take all the advice I can get.

Thanks guys

I have everything except the studs, gasket and seals

I just did about the same thing on mine. I got the timing case from http://www.ptcpower.com/index.aspx, was the least expensive I found.
New tappets from snedge.
All gaskets I got from the local Frieghtliner dealership. Not sure how they were for prices compared to the vendors but the head gasket I did price was almost $40 cheaper.
