Right now my truck is lifted 4.5inches but I am dropping it down to stock with a leveling kit. I am currently running 35 inch mud tires but am going to replace the bald tires and pitted rims. I would like to stay with a 35 inch tall tire and run bfg allterains on a 17 inch rim. The problem is I don't know what backspacing and offset to get. My rims were on the truck when I bought it but I like how the stick out of the fender. I don't want something that sticks out too far but I would like to maintain the wide stance my truck has now. Anyone have any suggestions?

I ran a 2" level kit with 35x12.5 tires on 17x9 rims with 5.71" backspacing & they didn't rub when i turned the wheel lock to lock on level ground.

Offset for 2000-2011 model trucks is +40mm (or +44mm according to some). '99 and older Rams the offset is about +18mm. In 2000 Dodge increased the tire track width by 2.0 inches.

Ok, what offset would you advise that I choose to increase my width more? Like I said I want it to be wider than stock but not a rediculous width either. I would just like for a bit of tire to extend past the fenders.

Thanks guys for helping. I have made the mistake of ordering wheels for my Camaro that stuck out way to far before. I dont want to make the same mistake again. I know a few people have posted backspacing that has worked for them but I would like to know backspacing and offset together to assure that I wont have issues.

I would suggest since you have a 2000 I would look for wheels between +18 to +25mm offset, that would definitely set them out nicely without hanging way out there. I would lean toward +25 myself. Discount Tire has a few 8-lug wheels in that range.

That's exactly where I was looking. My buddy works for discount tire and I am trying to get some cheap knock off wheels. He gave me this lecture about how he needs to know the offset and not just the backspacing when helping me find The wheels. Thanks for all the help.
