Guys, i am getting despirate to fix my truck. been talking to a bunch of people that have been great trying to diagnose my issue. no guages, odometer flashes, trans wont shift out of 1st and the trans relay flutters constantly. if someone could point me in the direction to get a wiring schematic of my truck then i could try to find where my short/ground issue is. if i can find a link in the different circuits that are giving me problems then maybe i can locate the problem area. Does anyone have an Alldata account that ic ould get the schematic off of? thanks in advance. josh

things i have done to date: new pcm, new crank sensor, cleaned all grounds, dropped trans pan (luckly no trash in the pan), tested power to the pcm, scanned with snap-on solus scanner yielded sensors were N/A.

I'm in the exact same boat as you are my friend. I dumped a lot of money it my 98' 12v trying to fix the darn electrical issues. I had many try and attempt it with no luck. 2x new pcm's. replaced every ground, sensor on the darn thing. Still fries out the TPS everytime I hook up a new one, trans still wont shift right. i was going to replace the entire wiring harness but when I found out Dodge was the only place I could get one and the price, I gave up. Truck finally died on me 4 days before I deployed over here. All the lights come on but no start. Even direct jumped from the starter. Fuel shut wont even function. I gave up on that darn thing. I just purchase a 96' garage kept with only 158k on it and everything will be swapped over when I get home. Good luck! Sorry I coul dnot help. IMO, found yourself a nice 96-97' model.

You have most likely broken wire between PCM an crank sensor. Have you measured 5V signal from crank sensor socket ?

I have the DODGE factory 98 12V service manual with wiring diagrams , if You want I can make some copys/scan

that would be great!!! i need someplace to start. do you want my email to send them, if so i will pm it to you.
i measured 4.97 volts at the crank sensor plug right before i replaced the sensor. is there a way to test the sensor itself?

I can copy also foult finding info, it wll be tomorrow

started checking some things tonight and thought i would post results to pick veryones brain. my trans relay flutters, i do not have a good ground to pin 85 on the relay and when i pull the ASD relay the trans relay stops fluttering. my question is, how is the fuse block grounded and where? what is the ASD relay? i wonder how they are related other then ground.

Sorry I had emergency situation on ship (electronics was out of order) and I had to leave the office before I had chance to make wiring diagram copys.

I will make them tommorrow

no worries, i found a new piece to the puzzle tonight. i was checking some connections under the truck and the ticking that is coming from the fuse block (A/C relay, Trans relay and ASD relay) is also coming from inside the trans pan. since i drained the fluid out the other day to test the sensors it was easy to hear. dropped the pan and sure enough there is a sensor on the pass side, silver and looks like a "C" battery standing up was fluttering along with the relays. it was also very hot to the touch. any ideas?

Those are the lock-up and gov pressure solenoids. They should be the same temp as the trans fiuld.

there wasnt any fluid in the trans, plus the ignition was only on for about 20 secs, just long enough for me to turn on the key, climb under the truck and pull out 4 bolts holding the pan on. in that amount of time the sensor was to hot to touch.

bit of an update.

been tracing wires, changed all the sensors in the trans and still the relays flutter and the gov press solenoid flutters as well. all grounds have been cleaned, new crank sensor, different pcm, crank sensor plug has 4.97 volts. i am running out of options. i guess i need to send my pcm out to be tested to make sure it is good and get the snap on scanner back here and see what it says with the trans harenss unplugged. i did find that if i unplug the trans harness the fluttering stops.
