Keep the heat in, it keeps the exhaust gas temp from dissipating through the housing and into the engine bay and compressor housing. The other reason is spool time, keeping the exhaust gases from losing temperature from dissipating, keeps them expanded, driving past the exhaust wheel earlier. Kinda like upping drive pressure when you're trying to spool the charger.
 
any warranty or discount on another? one of the pockets on mine the stitching ripped off so it doesn't mount correctly :eek:

If you want to take it off and ship it back, I'll do my best to fix it, no charge. If I can't fix it, we can work out a deal on a new one. You have a PM.
