I've bought a valair clutch rated at 600 hp and 1100 ft lbs torque. I drove with no power levels and went easy on it for around 600 miles and then i'd put the edge on every now and then to show off but today i was driving and it was slipping worst than my stock clutch. I came to a stop light and put it in third gear and popped the clutch and nothing happened my truck didnt shut off or anything it just slowly rolled forward. Has anyone had this before? What could be wrong?

i had one from Kennys it work great for me but it didnt take high rpm 3rd gear launches on the street. shoulda saved and bought a dual disc

I had the same clutch... it welded at 800miles. I'm thinking that it is a problem with my hyrdos though because my truck has been eating clutches since day one.

Which clutch? a dual disk or single?

Something is obviously wrong.. Have you checked the simple stuff, like linkage?

did you torque the pressure plate bolts or sock them down with the impact gun so tight that it distorts the pressure plate?

i don't know what went wrong, but that clutch if using it properly cant take alot, but it cant take 3rd gear launching no single plate can. at least not for long. What were you doing just prior to it slipping.

I was just driving in town normally i never did a third gear launch or anything. i only struck it in third gear and popped the clutch with no rpms thinking it would kill the engine but it didn't. But when i raced people from a 30 mph punch i wouldn't go anywhere.

well something is obviuosly wrong, what does it do now, does it make any noise? how does the pedal feel and is it a full pedal.

how tight is that? one you can only run them down until the pp is flat agianst the flywheel and two you will twist the bolts off if overtorqued especially with a impact. I use a 3/8 ratchet now. I put one of these in from PPE and it slipped at first but afterb500 mile it works just fine now.

It make queaky noises for about a hundred miles only when i was letting off the clutch but other than no noises. The petal feels the same as the stock clutch really easy. However it does does let off really late in the petal. My friend has the same truck as me and the exact same clutch and his is a little more stiff to push in but not bad. But when his clutch is real jumpy it'll kinda jerk a little starting in 2nd but mine dont do any of that. This is my second valiar clutch the first one i picked up and had it installed at a shop in my town and i couldn't get it in 1st 2nd 3rd and reverse. So i took my truck to the shop and they said it was a messed up one and they called yall and got a new one sent out. And thats the one i have now it goes in gear fine its just slipping.

stock hydraulics?

mine engaged fine, but would not disengage until i lengthened the push rod. But I'm running 12v hydros in my 01

Im surprised it's not welded tight. Like I said I had the same clutch it was grabby and squeaked after 400miles. I did a very short 2nd gear burnout and it welded that sob tighter than a nun's c***. These single disks can't take hardly any abuse.

mines seen 10 or 15 3rd gear boosted launches and still seems fine. feels a little weird after each one, but, its taking the abuse for sure.
