As the title states, I have installed a new ecm in my truck and the check engine light remains on. The truck runs fine with no apparent problems. Should I be concerned? Will the light go out after some time? The codes that come up are telling me that the ecm and pcm are not communicating but obviously they are since the truck is running.

Does the cruise control work?
 
I drove the truck around tonight and the check engine light went out. I guess it is good to go, there are however still codes if you do the old key method. All functions are working fine.
 
I was talking to a friend tonight that had the same problem. He bought a used ECM from a guy out of a truck just like his, same year, same tranny. It worked fine but his CEL stayed on. He was told by the dealer that they could reflash it but that the light would still come on, that he could send it to Auto Computer Exchange and they could reflash it where it wouldn't do this. He called them and couldn't understand the lady on the phone and gave up. I've bought a few IDM's from them before and never had a problem.
 
I bought a reman right from Cummins and had them flash it in hopes of avoiding problems.
