So my old grille frame and shell were shot. Frame was rusted out, and the plastic clips were all broke off on the shell. I got a new shell and frame to put on, and I went to install it today.

1. The frame is too big. How can somebody make something for a specific model of truck, and have it 1" too long? None of the 3 arms line up with the holes in the hood. :bang

2. Amidst the frustration of having the wrong sized frame, I put just the shell on. You know, the 6 or 7 or whatever bolts that are molded into the plastic. The end bolt on the passenger side breaks off. :bang

If I didn't have a spare vehicle to drive I'd be really pissed.
I'm not going to list the name of the company who I bought it thorough as this happened this evening, so I haven't had a chance to call and see what they'll do.

Guess I just needed to vent. Now I gotta buy another shell at least.

Anyway, whats the best way to put these back on? I had my old one off to install the billet inserts, and I put the shell and frame back on as one piece. That didn't work with this one, but whos to say that it won't If I get a correctly fitting frame?

Did they send you the frame for a sport? I don't remember exactly the length difference but there is one.

The number on the invoice matches the number in the book for a 98-02 non sport. I laid (whats left of) the old bracket on top and the bottom matches, but the arms just don't bend right, I guess, and don't line up with the holes..

I actually need a new grill for my truck due to any accident with the gooseneck in my driveway. . . what is the goin price on a shell?

thats aftermarket for ya. if its chinese, they never fit just right. 1 inch sounds pretty extreme to me!

besides going to the dealer. you might try LMC truck they got that whole catalog now for our year trucks. there stuff is actually not that bad.
