New to diesels in general...

Hey guys just thought I'd introduce myself, my name's JJ and I'm from Georgia (just outside Athens for anyone wondering).

I'm completely new to diesel performance but not new to performance in general. I've worked on cars a majority of my life with my friends and family and some projects myself...Dodge D150, 4Runner, 5.0 Thunderbird, quite a few 240SXs.

So what's a good "beginner" performance diesel truck to get into? My goal is to have a nice daily driver and something I can toy around in at the local sled pulls, that and my girlfriends bugging me senseless to get her a horse...Any suggestions appreciated.

That's what I was leaning more towards too, seems like the gold standard from what I've learned so far (which by no means is it much).
