Lbz is the best dmax ive been around, runs like an lmm without the extra egr bs. Faint white smoke? Was it chipped by the previous owner? Ive seen lucas injector cleaner clear some of that up, not sure whats goin on there. Mild programing and exhaust those engines will get 20+mpg no problem. Welcome and good luck!
