I've been thinking about doing a pull for a bit now. What I need to know is for an auto do I spool.......4x4 low or high ???
Where do I get the 3" reciever ??
What kind of bump stops can I use for my rear suspension ?
I have 35" M/T's that I will put on my truck but there gettin quite worn. They have 55-60 % tread left.
What do they mean by 2.5" inducer, I know its on the turbo but where ???
Any other tips from the crafty vets is appreciated......lol
Thanks
:thankyou2:

You definatly want to go in low unless you have alot of power. You can get a 3inch reciever from just about any tractor supply store maybe hardwar store. It's just a twisted clevis or take two clevis's and hook them together. Don't need bump stups unless it's a dedicated puller. Just whatever you do don't hit your brakes, let the sled top you. I mean there might be a cahnce of breaking but unless you got big hp you don't have enough momentum for the sled to hit you that hard. If you have a stock turbo you don't have to worry about the inducer. I'm sure you have read around on here but instead of mm they use the standard system. A super phat shaft 66mm is a 2.6 inducer, 64mm is a 2.4? and so on. Unless you want to go into the big horsepower classes with guys with dedicated sled pulling trucks do not get a turbo bigger then 64mm, I kinda screwed myself with the SPS66 but around here we run a 2.6 class instead of the 2.5.

The tires will be fine. If your running MT's, you want them to be about half worn, maybe a little less. Unless you have a lot of HP, full treaded MT's will bite too much and break stuff.
And bump stops arent a bad idea, for any pulling truck. When your rear end is sagging, thats when you break stuff. NOT FUN! And im sure you could use about anything for the stops. I think most places just state it has to have at least 2 inches of susp. travel.

Ok thanks guys......Well heres the thing.....eventually I wanna upgrade my turbo and injectors......Nothing huge, like stage 2s with a drop in turbo. Thats why I asked inducer size. Which part is the inducer.

With bump stops I ve herd of guys using bolts that limit it to 1 or 2 inches of travel. Anypics

What about driveshaft loops ???

And for the reciever, Is it the hole in the centrer 3" diameter or the whole loop?

There is a thread on here just added where a guy is asking for drive shaft loop pics. Check it out, may be helpful.
The reciever, you want the HOLE to be 3".
And I have seen people use bolts as stops. Seemed to work fine. Ad long as its a good hardened bolt, dunno why it wouldnt work.

And im not positive on the inducer, but i believe its the space around the fins themselves.

Yeah I got some advice.....

Dont start pulling!!:rockwoot:

It will save you a bunch of money.

Umm a 64 mm turbo is not a 2.4. Its actually a 2.54. A 62 would be close to a true 2.5 turbo. And I don't think he is talking about bump stops to keep the sled from hitting him in the ars. I would remover the bump stops completly and replace them with some fabricated suspension blocks to bolt in place easily when you get to the track. I would also make some traction bars to help keep the drive train in line and keep you drive shafts under the truck and not into the ground. As for an auto, you best make sure you have a good aftermarket for starters. Sled pulling can do a number on a tranny in a hurry. Your best bet is to pull in 4 low, let it shift to second and then get a trq converter lockup module and lock the converter in second gear. It may sound like its going to thrid gear, but its not.

OK thanks Kino, My trans came with a billet TC, shift kit and some VB work....The guys truck it came out with was runnning about 350-380 HP.Im not near that yet, i also added a Mag hytec and will be adding a 6.0L trans cooler soon.

Is this truck gonna be a daily driver and a weekend puller?? My fault also I thought he was talking about bump stops. The setup in my signature is what I am driving to the pulls hooking up to the sled and hopefully driving home with no breakage. There's alot of us 3rd gen guys and quite a few 2nd gen guys with daily drivers and weekend warriors. I am personally not gonna put suspension blocks on my since I heared it can cause more carnage others say it won't but who knows. Ladder bars though are a "MUST". I am also going to be pulling with 305 70 17 mud dawg M/T's so I also need to watch the bouncing. Also before I pull I always get out of my truck and watch some of the other guys to see where they are having problems with bouncing so you can prepare yourself.

Yes, Its a DD and a weekend warrior........I guess thers no place you can practice unless you own a sled........LOL
