So here is the deal, the valve body has a transgo shift kit with the new separator plate, the Sonnex Throttle Valve Kit and the Dodge "RE" Governor Solenoid to GM Pressure Control Solenoid Conversion Kit. This thing will NOT shift out of 2nd gear at WOT, if you let off to about 3/4 throttle then it shifts great, around town driving it shifts fine but if you stand in it, it will downshift to 2nd gear and stay. Can any of you tranny guru's give me some insight??

Is your TV cable correctly adjusted ? :poke:

I think it is too tight.

I have played with it a bit but even loose it still doesn't shift at WOT. It just shifts too early at low to half throttle with it that way but the second you nail it it's 2nd gear and thats it.

Just wondering if you ever found the cause for this, my truck does the exact same thing

take your governer pressure solenoid out and with a large flat screw driver pry off the small screen and brake clean it well... that should fix it. If the screen looks white and perfectly clean, buy a new one.

I've done this 5-6 times to fix this problem before I figured out there was trash in my transmission lines that kept clogging it up.

Thanks for the advice I'll try that.

Another truck that we have put a different shift kit in does the exact same thing so maybe this is the issue.

Its your valve body kit me and jeff garmon had the same problem with every kit so we made our own kit works flawless no stacked shifts and no hanging at WOT give me or jeff a call me 1888-377-7902 or jeff 770-227-8998 one of us will be glad to help.

I talked to Jeff last week when we were down there picking up my friends truck. He said i should grind more off my throttle valve than they recommended in the instructions.

I'm going to try and pull my valve body tomorrow and try that and cleaning my gov. solenoid.

Sorry I haven't got back to you on this, I haven't been around the computer for a bit. I took the truck out to my trans guys place and put the scanner on it again and the only thing we found was at a dead stop my gov. pressure was creeping up to 3psi, but I'm not so sure that would be my problem. He want's to build another valve body that I have and try that but I'm not so sure I wanna fund his learning curve on these things. When I do get if fixed I will let you guys know.

Sounds like your kit is the way to go, I have tried everything I can think of I will be in touch. Thanks for the info.

i just built my tranny on my 04 2500 with raybestos high energy clutches new solenoids ,new gm style gov pressure regulator & sensor, billet accumulator piston , billet tq convertor, rigid front band, and transgo shift kit. having the exact same problem. has anyone tried contacting transgo about this if so any luck?

go to diesel bombers and look @" 48re headache" thread and read my last post. the problem is the combo of the shift kit with the gm style solenoid. stock solenoid generates more pressure and will fix the problem though not as durable as the gm stye. you can also drill a .02 hole in the end of the gm solenoid and it will bump the pressure up to 100psi which is where it needs to be. this is what i chose to do & it's shifted perfect since. before drilling hole it would vary from 87 to 92. the minute it went to 92 it would shift. i talked to suncoast tech/builder today and he verified they do this same mod to all there trannys unless it's a full race tranny then they use the stock soleniod.
