I have what I believe is a Silver bullet 66 from II.(New to me truck)
It has a fair amount of sideplay ( I can only compare to a stock H1C.) II said that is ok, but it doesn't seem right.

I am wondering if I want to rebuild this one or sell as is.
What I am looking to accomplish is:

Have a super fast off the line truck, considering the 5 spd into things. the NV shifts nice and clutch is great for now.

Have the ability to tow 10,000 lbs if needed but rarely if ever.

Daily drive it on nice days about 30 miles in sometimes traffic, mixed road types.

possibly run it down the track for fun. My pockets aren't deep enough to be breakin stuff.

And the ability to handle 600 hp.(which PO stated its close to)But he was a bit of a BSer)

No pulling.

I think I may be heading for twins as I want some hp and fast as possible spoolups.

My turbo reads as follows( and I can measure it with basic calipers if necessary) :

Phatshaft
Silver Bullet
2nd Gen
8-06
The PO stated it was a 66, but he could be wrong again. How can I identify it for sure?

I know that if it is a 62 by some chance I may be able to use it for twins.

I need a good recommendation on where I should go from here. I have a lot of fuel but can't say how much yet. I am trying to nail down all the details of the setup on my own so I can say for sure the exact details.Given my goals and what I have for sure (P pump) I know I can do what I want, but what will be the best setup for my conditions as far as turbo(s) and fueling? I want to set up the truck once the right way, if I have to lose the turbo I have and swap or twin it, I will, just once though. Also, I have heard that the s300 variants don't hold up well. Is that from not enough cool down or just pushing them hard? Mine can easily see 45+ psi and egts are never over 1200. I don't know how the turbo was abused before me but it's not too old. I would like to buy it once, so if I swap to adifferent turbo I want one that doesn't need a rebiuld every 10K. The Holsets hold up along time, are there others? Thanks for reading my long post. I will get details as soon as I can. Btw, the truck does haul arse and turn day into night!. Details to follow as needed.

i think your nick says it all

you will prolly end up with a few different varients of the s-300 so you can try them for yourself and see how differently ea works

then you will do the same thing with twins...lol

same thing i am doing

first turbo was a 62/65-13

bought a 64/71 and a 66/74

how hard is it to swap the compressor wheels on these things?

That's a good question. was wondering if I send it for a rebuild if they can reduce the compressor so I can use it for twins. Still has a large turbine though. Problem with the 300s is they don't seem to last long. Maybe thats b/c of abuse. I need to find out about how to treat it too. cooldown to 300* f is good no?

i think they got a bad rap cuz when htt first came out with their stainless housing the waste gate arm bent real easy. would turn into a laggy mess. you dont have to worry about that. and they set up the 66 compressor with more side to side clearance than the smaller ones

quit tripping

don

oh - if that thing wont hit 1200° it just means you want more fuel!
