Well I tried the new technique of launching hard, using wheel speed to get going rather than just trying to torque the sled down the track. Didn't go great but I also didn't break either. I got the HOPS when I come out of the hole and when I tried to lift a "little" the truck hopped so hard my foot came off the pedal and when i got back on it I was under the charger, but got it lit again easily and still managed a 303' pull for 4th place.

Can anyone help me with the hop, I had 55psi in the rears, and 30psi in the fronts, and my suspension blocks allow for 1" of travel before they hit...got some pulls coming up in the next few weeks and want to figure this out rather than keep hopping and break something.

It was at the Buck...

and my traction bars are almost 6' I think...this is the first time in 9 pulls that I got the bounce tho.

in this pic they look tiny but they are 2" heavy wall tube built by W.F.O in Indiana, and I have yet to see them bend or flex

Get longer bars. Put some on there that goes all the way to your doors and it should help out.

Try clamping the springs, possibly let it move 6 inches or so so you make sure the suspension is on the stops before you try to blow the tires off.

Spring will help also where is your tire pressure at. To low on the tires will cause bounce

I grit my teeth when I see hopping I say it might be in the tire pressure?
You had her going though !

What he said. What Is max tire pressure? More rear tire pressure will help.

Oh I saw a flyer for a pull at Mason-Dixon and thought that that might have been it. I'm stuck up here in Carlisle for another few weeks, but I'd like to hit a pull or two. Wish I'd have known about the Buck.

Do guys with traction bars still run spring clamps? Or is it just one or the other?

I think alot of it was the track, I launched hard off the start, ended up hopping when it shifted 2nd gear, which was about the same place you had it happen.

Alot of trucks hopped at that one section of the track.

You lifted bad enough, I thought you were shifting it. I asked Pat if you were trying something new...lol

thats what everyone thought, no shifting for me tho, a "new" NV5600 will run over 4k...no thanks!

i always ran 60psi in my rear tires down there. my traction bars came to about the middle of the doors and mounted about 4inches down from the frame rail and i also had 10 or 11 leaf springs on each side.

I think the length of your bars are fine, just drop the front of them down below the frame more. I would also try clamping the springs and maybe going for about 60psi in them back tires.

I may be purchasing a sat of rear leafs in the near future that were designed for pulling, not sure who made them but they are heavy and stiff

Nice pull TJ..... It was good to see you at the Buck! We stayed for yours and Bretts pull and then had to get the kids home. Glad nothing broke.....
