truck is a 2000 24 valve with an NV4500, got on it in 3rd gear and then it just free revved, so went to 4th and it did the same. still has 1st, 2nd, 5th, and reverse, but 3rd and 4th are just like neutral. anybody have any ideas?
thanks
Does it feel like it engages in 3/4 or feel like nothing is there? My guess would be a fork, whether it's bad or a roll pin dropped out of it( I've seen both).
slipping clutch--- probably not it, just seems like a possibility due to the symptoms. No worries though, i was comin home from work tuesday and came to a stop light and my truck wouldnt come out of gear.I ended up shuttin the truck off forcing it into gear then startin it in gear and driving home in 2nd. Seemed like a slave cylinder issue, but i was plannin on it happening sooner or later so iam buyin a clutch now.

it feels like it goes into gear but there is nothing there, no way it could have cleaned off those gears tho. i kinda thought it was a fork but i dont know much about trannies
Fourth is just locking the input to the output, so if you have nothing there, the fork isn't moving the slider. Pull the trans and remove the top cover, the fork you're looking for is the front one. It will either be worn so big it doesn't grab the slider, or a roll pin has fallen out and it slides around on the shift rail.
it broke the front off the main shaft. does anybody know where to get an upgraded one? i have heard of one that is made of 300m, but cant seem to find one.
