Today I unbolted my front unput housing cover from my T-case to change the leaky input seal. I noticed that all of my ball bearings were missing out of the input shaft set except 10. I called around all day & finally located the bearing & picked it up this afternoon. I had to split the Transfer case in half to change the bearing because it has to be pounded out. If you are removing your T-case, better check that bearing.

Was there any oil in t case?? It is NOT common for the front bearing to fail. I have seen dozens of t cases with NO oil(think dusty inside) and the bearings had not failed yet (other parts had, like forks, thrusts) making the owner stop driving it and get repaired.

I am amazed at what the 241 dld and dhd will take, low oil,no oil, lots of hp and still move the truck

IKE

I just replaced the fluid 2 weeks ago when I changed my clutch. The bearing must have just failed because there was no sign of metal in the oil 2 weeks ago.

I just rebuilt my case, and that bearing was toast in mine as well. The cage and other associated ferrous metals were present in a heavy fuzz on the magnet.

After putting my truck back together, my 5th gear nut came off. I'm not sure if the bearing failure was because of the nut being loose or what? My truck is at the tranny shop right now. It is nice having a warranty.:rockwoot:

my t case ate a chain and ended up wearing a hole through the bottom of the case, it ran for another 5k miles and all the bearings were fine :rockwoot: needless to say i replaced the whole t case after that
