NV4500 4x4 to 2x4

I got a buddy that wants to take a NV4500 transmission out of a 01 4x4 and put it in his 02 4x2 witch has a nv4500 in it also. The ??? I have is the transfer case. Can we just take the transfer case off and put the tail off of his old nv4500 on there?

What about just leaving the T-case on there, so when he's maneuvering with a load on he can put it down into 4L and have the reduction. Kinda like having a 2lo kit in a 4x4.

Yes, all he will have to do is switch out the tailhousings of the two trannys.

2wd trans has a much longer mainshaft.
