NV4500 Pilot Bearing

What Pilot Bearing is everyone having the most luck with? Im fixing mine now and the normal needle bearing blew apart and destroyed the input shaft. Do I try another needle bearing or I can try a brass bushing or I can have the flywheel machined for a sealed ball bearing setup.

Also while I have the tranny out I was going to replace the mainshaft for the "updated" version with new 5th gear. Does anyone have experience of what companies to deal with or not?

I would suggest Standard Trans for parts. Go with the fully splined main shaft and 1 3/8 input also. As far as pilot, my previous SB flysheel came with a roller bearing but my present SBDD has the needle. Go figure?

Standard Trans has always been good to me. I use the stock bronze bushing, even
with the 10 speed trans.

Another vote for Standard Transmissions Parts: Tremec - Borg Warner - New Venture - Getrag, Cummins, 4 speed transmission, 5 speed transmission, 6 speed transmission I won't go anywhere else. They carry SB clutches BTW. IMO, the bushing is the very last choice for the pilot.
