Nv4500 Problems With 5th Gear!

Well I was heading home from work friday night and had a common rail start rolling some coals behind me. So I put the hammer down of course and put a hurtin on him and my tranny. I was on a step long hill shifted into 5th and it was pullin hard at about 110MPH and heard a clunk. I imediatley let out of it and down shifted. I limped it about a half mile home and could hear some not so healthy noises in 5th but all the gears including 5th still work. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or has had this happen before?

You probably striped teeth of 5th gear very common,

Yep just boogered mine up this weekend.....third time in 6 monthes Ive replaced the 5th gear.

Yea makes plenty of sense! The jam nut let me hang a few months ago to. Its always something. 2 rears, transfer case and now tranny problems, all in under a year. Weres the best place to get a new gear and what kind of price?
