Well I think something is headed south in my trans. I went a little over a week ago to the Simpson County KY pull and won the 2500/SRW 3500 class.

Next week trans starts making noise 1/2 way to work or home (little less than 20 miles). Sounds like something smacking up against the shifter at first...but I checked the floor and nothings rubbing anywhere...sounds like its come from the trans. Well once the trans gets good and hot....almost before I get to work or all the way home it starts making a binding noise?

Today I pulled the PTO covers on both sides and spun the drive-line to check for any damaged gears. I could not see any damage at all?!

Well after calling Cousin Billy @ BRC Diesel I decided to pull the driveshaft and check the snap ring on the back of the Transfer case. Well...the snap ring was fine...but I over stretched/bent it trying to put it back on. So now my truck has gone from making noise's to being down till I can get another snap ring on Monday. :banghead:

Anybody had any experience like this? I know its hard to diagnose from just trying to explain it, but I'm hoping somebody has some suggetions of any time. Right now.....its not looking good. :(

Hey Mark is it doing it in all gears or just a certain few?

Andy

All gears....even coasting too I believe. Leads me to think carrier bearing since someone mentioned that on another site. But why would it only do it after driving 12-14 miles?

I dont know, last carrier bearing I had go bad fell out of the truck. Have you checked out your universals? I had one going bad that made all kinds of noise.

No way it is the throwout bearing either?

Brand new SBC 3850 12CB & throwout in November only has 2 3rd gear burnouts @ IRP and this one pull on it. I'm going to call Peter tomorrow and get his input, but I just don't know?!?
