NV5600- 6th has started making noise

6th has started to make a slight noise, or vibration.... I can feel it more than anything... on the coast side more than anything......

fluid has been around 6qts for a couple of years now.... it still pulls and goes into gear fine, but I bet its getting ready to go....

what would ya'll do? run it till it dies? pulll it now?
 
just replace the gears. friend had a 99 with a 5600 and 6th started to whine and vibrate, he just kept driving it then one day he only had 1-5, it would still go into 6th slot but would not more, had to re-build entire trans.
 
well Its not that bad, just a slight feeling, or vibration/noise on the coast side, its smooth on the accel. side.... so I'm gonna pull the pto cover and check it out and change fluid, then go from there
 
When you pull the plug look at it cause they are magnetic and are suppose to catch any metal shavings Rollin around in the fluid

Mine is doin the same thing, only on the accel side and I think 4th does it some too. I blew 6th out of it two years ago and took it to a shop to be rebuilt cause I didnt have time to do it, now I am wishing I didnt take it anywhere...

dam you got a press big enough to press the six speeds gears on and off?! how much that run u?

Well it's not making as much noise now that we got all the pieces of 6th out of the pan.
 
Just opened my friends up a couple weeks ago. Similar damage. Getting the new gears cryo'd.

I get all my parts from Allstate Gear in Texas. We have 3 local cryo shops in Mooresville NC. The one I use only does nascar teams parts but thanks to a mutual friend I can get parts done through him.

roughly what is cryo'ing? and what does it cost? and why rebuild rather than buying a reman....
