I bought one of these off of a member on here, I am in the process of installing it on my truck. I have it completely installed except for 2 wires.. one is the WOT wire,, and the other is the RPM wire. I am thinking that I dont need the RPM wire, but I do want the WOT one,, I know that it has to go into the APPS, but it does not tell which wire to use on the APPS. Any help on this would be great!

Thanks

Kevin

I did not use the RPM input. Not sure if there is even a correct tach (Crankshaft) setting that would read correctly.

My Input 1 (WOT) is tapped into the "output" signal from the APPS. I will have to look up the wiring harness to identify colors. Can't get to mine when it is plugged in. What year APPS??

Here is a link to the Manuals/Instructions available from Nitrous Express.

I ramped mine off boost, I might be putting it up for sale here soon too, havent used it in over year.

So, you didnt use the input 1 at all? Ram, my truck is a 03

No I did use Input 1 for APPS (WOT). I did not use Input 2 or RPM input. APPS wiring is different on some years. I think I used the APPS signal # 1 return wire BR/YL. That signal looks to be the same wire color on both 03 and 06. I will try and look tonight. With Boost and WOT you can ramp based on boost or Time on either stage.

I guess that if you need to be really complicated or have the need, Input 2 could be tied to trans brake or some other secondary signal for more control. I need to keep it simple.

So it runs off boost but only when you are at WOT?

With the controller software you can program to fire on boost only or setup time based control. Yes all primary control should be after WOT. You can get creative and use physical WOT switch that contacts at say 3/4 throttle I guess.

Example using Time Based:

Stage I fires 2 tenths of a second after WOT sensed.
It begins at 20% and ramps to 100% in 2 seconds.

Stage II fires 2.2 seconds after WOT sensed.
It begins 20% and ramps to 100% in 2 seconds.

Both stay on until 80spi boost.

This example brings on nitrous conservatively and has both stages at 100% in 4.2 seconds.

Lots of options with just WOT plus boost and/or time.

And the cool thing about it Scott is that you can adjust WOT to be where ever you like. So like in my case I want it to start spraying at about 1/4 throttle, so i will just make the box think that 1/4 throttle is WOT.

I wired input one to a 12v switch on my knee bolster. I arm the controller (turn it on) just before staging and the soleniods fire based on the MAP curve I set it for. I start rolling into the juice at 7lbs of boost on the line (5% flow ) and ramp up to 100% flow at 55 lbs of boost.

So, you didnt hook it up to you map sensor at all? THat would make life easier for sure.... makes sense too,, just let the map do its job

Yeah thats how mine was setup, armor switch in the ash tray and when it saw the pre programed mapped boost it did just that.

No but you run a boost source to the controller itself, and program the 2 stages in the controller to ramp how you want them too, I had mine overlapping when when the second stage came on.

Taking this one step further, why not just wire it in together with your arming switch,, have them both turn on at the same time... that should work, shouldnt it?

I have the boost line hooked up,, only thing I dont have hooked up is the input 1.. I have allready been playing with some mapping, just waiting to hook it up and take it for a test

Initially I had a hard time getting the controller to learn the TPS signal, so I wired it to a 12v switch and it worked fine. Been using it like this for over 2.5 years now. I only run one solenoid pre-CAC and currently don't have the fuel for the second solenoid. I bring it in nice and slow while I'm building boost on the line (acts as a purge too).

do you just bring power from the fuse box to a switch to the input 1?
