Hi all

Finally got my motor torn down and looking at the headgasket knowing i am gonna O-ring the block.

The gasket fire ring is like 1/8" wide at best and if I understand things correctly the O-ring is to be placed so it is dead centre of the fire ring?

If that is is correct, the groove would be like less than 1/16" from the bore edge which seems to be waaaaay too close

So what is the dimension to cut the O-ring groove and where is it intended to sit in relation to the bore edge, and the 1/8" gasket fire ring

Anybody here got a step by step using the Isky tool and from thier own experience doing this?

thanx
Ken

It is correct that the O-ring makes a foot-print centered in the gasket's fire-ring. :)

As such, the o-ring is right there at the edge of the cylinder.

It's my understanding that the Isky tool is used to O-ring the block, not the head as the tool uses the cylinder to center itself.

And with my reading your post, I now see you plan on O-ringing the block. Oops. :bang

0.029" depth 0.039" width 120mm bore center

is this correct?

is the 120/2 the radius to use? presumably 60 mm?
