Clean or replace? Been told if a bearing is spun replace it but if it's just a rebuild clean it.
So I figure oil goes into the pick up tube into the filter then the oil cooler then engine. so shouldn't the filter catch the particulates that would be an issue?

I had a turbocharger failure and sent the cooler out to be flushed and tested. Company said it was okay. I reinstalled it. Took it out for a test pass in the barn yard, rod bearing locked up and shot the rod out the block. Took the cooler apart and it was still full of brass. The new engine got a oil cooler by-pass plate. This was in a puller. Pay the extra and get a new one. Just my $.02

yeah your right just pulled the motor apart and all the mains had scratches! It only ran for like 5 miles and did that! Can't believe the filter lets so much metal go thru!!
