My friend pumped a little oil in the cooling system last week pushing 52lbs of boost on stock heads bolts(24V).I pulled the head and took it to get o-ringed.Need to know what works best for flushing the system. He didn't get much, just a thin layer developed in the top of the radiator and some in the overflow.I'm thinking with a few flushes most of it will be out.Purple Power,Simple Green, anything a radiator shop sells thats better?

Dawn dishwashing liquid does a great job. You need to flush it more than once to get it all out.

I'll keep that in mind. Does it make a difference getting it up to temp or not?I was thinking of flushing without the t-stat in for ease and speed of refilling beween draining.

I ran my engine up to temperature twice, then drain/refill. It cleaned it out really well, but I still saw a oil residue in the coolant. I flushed it a 3rd time to be sure.

I've gotta do the same thing once I get my truck up and running again...

Got oil in mine from the Freeze Plug issue!

last one i did, i think i ended up flushing about 4 times to get it to come clean, used dawn dish soap as well. We use it at work to clean oil out of cooling systems as well.

i used cascade dish detergent (the liquid/gel not the powder) and regular water, filled it up with water, added a healthy dose of the detergent and then drove it to work for a week. my drive is short so its not like i put a ton of miles on it, just enough for it to heat and cool a few times, and really get it pumped through the system well.

then i flushed it out, ran water in it for another day, flushed again, and filled with 50/50 coolant. it was clean as can be, and the cascade for dishwashers is a sudless soap.

i put a hose on my heater core and flushed it with dawn. i removed the rad and flushed it with dawn. then i put it all together without t-stat and flushed it with dawn 3 times. without a t-stat the waterpump moves it around real good.

We use simple green when the Fords lose the oil coolers. Pour a gallon in, fill with water, run it and get it nice and hot, then drain. It works pretty well. Pretty much anything that is to break the oil apart will work for you.
