Oil pressure guage is WAY off?

My dash gauge reads 60 psi as normal and the high mark is 150psi (maybe 120psi... going off memory)

I was using my friends Mt2500 scanner, and that gauge is WAY off from what the scanner reads.

When the guage says 60psi, it's really only around 30-35psi. When it's 1/2 between the 60 and high mark, it's actually about 60psi.

Anyone know why it's off so much? That gauge is pretty much worthless!

I think it is more of an idiot light than anything. It will drop when you have less than 2 quarts on the crank case though...... And yes, a cummins will run fine with 2 quarts in it LOL

Not mine, but a friends work truck LOL

All it's used for is to tell you there is indeed oil flowing through the engine, if you want accuracy get a 0-100psi mechanical gauge and hook it up.

Yep...my 95 has done it 3 times when I've chucked the chargers;)
