That's the granddaddy to the diesel pickups IMO. Would be a sweet project, wish I had the time and funds. I'd even keep the original motor, no CTD swap. Definately a piece of history there.
 
My buddy had one of these in high school, his was a four wheel drive automatic. It was a neat piece, but man was it a dog.

Maybe a horrible, failed piece of history that is best forgotten. I wouldn't call it the grandfather of the Cummins, it's more like the horribly misshapen and disabled child that came before Cummins and caused the abortions of the two pregnancies before Cummins.

Failed attempt, yes. Grandfather to the Cummins? No. But it showed Dodge that when they entered the market to be competitve, they needed a stout platform, which the Cummins is.

That truck started the trend. It sucked, yes, just like the 5.7 GM, but if not for those 2 ventures, where would compression ignition be at today as far as passenger vehicles go? Everything happens for a reason.
