This may seem like a stupid question but here it goes....

Why do the output shafts break on the 4x4 trucks??

Is it due to the 4wd launches?? Creating a higher torque load on the shaft...Or could it be that driving more than just the driveshaft creates a higher load??

Is it a weaker shaft than the 2wd ones? I have a 2wd and no one even makes a billet piece because they say it's not a concern. Which leads me to the heart of my question.

If I run a Gear Vendors on my 2wd transmission will I need an output shaft from 4wd?? Yes I know they are different lengths and such, but the Gear Vendors replaces the tailshaft housing with a 4x4 piece. So should the output shaft also be changed?? Since it will be drive more than just the driveshaft...

Due to design the 4wd shaft is a lot weaker than the 2wd shaft. If you have a billet input and good converter a 30lb boosted launch will wipe out the stock output. I've put a twist in a billet output by doing numerous 20lb boosted 2wd launches and manually shifting through all the gears with the torque converter locked.

So if I was to run a GearVendors it seems I would need to change the entire tail section of the trans mission...output shaft and all.

Would driving a planetary gearset break a stock output shaft or should I get a billet one (which I can't afford right now)??

I will also be looking into running the GV in a divorced arrangement. Just lookign at all options for this.

launching at 25-30psi in 4wd is what broke my stock output lol
