Overboost Condition?

I appologize for not searching first but I don't have a ton of time to sift through a ton of threads.

I have a 98.5 that has the check engine light on it. The local Advanced Auto scanned it and told me I have 3 codes. One being an "Overboost Condition" Obviously the people they hire to work there don't know anything because they were like "oh why would that truck have an overboost condition" I was like "uhm it's a Diesel..." Probably because I'm a chick all guys assume it's a 1500 when I pull in if they dont hear me..lol The guy at Advanced told my my air filter was probably getting to much air :hehe:

So I went to the only guy in town that is Cummins Certified (our Dodge dealer isnt) :poke: and he told me he cant read my codes becasue advanced messed up my plug and probably shorted something out somewhere

And he said he can't completely tell me what it means without scanning it.

Has anyone ever come across this?

If you disable the stock wastegate or switch turbos you can get this code when the truck sees ~25 lbs of boost. Most any performance box will do boost fooling to prevent this code (the box lies to the ecm)

What is done to the truck?

The only thing not stock that I know of is the K&N Filter.

I am probably going to have it checked out when I get my student loan return check in the next couple weeks.

Well, if you are ever on the west side of the state I would be happy to look at it.

I appreciate it.

I don't think I will be over there anytime soon. Besides July 16-18 I'll be at Silver Lake and I'll have the truck with me then.

Not sure how close you are to Silver Lake?

Somewhere along the way the turbo must've boosted to ~25psi. What were the other two codes that were thrown? Easiest way to make sure the overboost code doesn't come back is to get some sort of boost fooler.

About an hour south of Silver lake.

I've got them written down some where. One was a Manuf. code something about input and output and the other I can't remember
