Overhead Console Wiring Harness

I've been thinking about upgrading my overhead console to the one with the read outs and tempratures. Is the wiring harness already there or am I going to have to install everything for it?

I would venture to guess it will be there but don't have proof. Just like the fog lamps. Wires are all there, they just stab the optional units on if you order them.

Is there any screws in the console I was trying to remove it, I only found two lips that you would unlock and it didn't seem to have any give so is there anything else up there that holds it on?

Nope, just those two clips up there. Its kinda a tight fit is probably why your having trouble. Once you pull it a time or two it gets easier cause either your confidence is built or you borke something and it fits kinda loose.

i got a question along the same lines, i have the console in my truck with the temp and stuff. So i know that harness is up there but my question is do all these trucks have a harness for running cab running lights? i want to put on a set of amber lights on top and was wonderin if all the wireing is there under the headliner. as well as are the holes there under the headliner for the lights? thanks for any help.

dont believe the wires are they for cab lights. when i had mine installed the had to wire them up.

And I dont think the wiring harness is there for the overhead console because I cannot find the sensors and there has got to be more to the overhead console than those two locks because I unlocked them and pried on that damn thing and it didn't break or come off.

The sensors (the temp for instance) is behind the grill. The only thing I know of that the overhead console needs is power, gound, and the CCD bus (two conductors). So my guess is only four wires....but I've never had mine off.

Been there, done that.

The wiring harness is NOT up there.

Not only that, but you need a different body control module.

In order to get the harness and the module, you need to pull the dash. It isn't exactly difficult, but it is time consuming.

Once you've figured out everything inside the cab, you still have to run the wires out through the firewall and across the hood for the temp sensor.

Long story short, it isn't worth it, unless you have a donor truck sitting there and a lot of free time.
