i have been wanting to p pump my truck for a while now and i think i have got most of everything i need. truck i a 2000 ex. cab long bed dually with nv4500.
just curious as to what all i will need to do the conversion. this truck is my daily driver but i want to make as much power out of it as i can. im running an aurora 5000 as a single right now and oviously cant light it much at all. i have a set of 150 hp. injectors in it also.
i basically bought a complete 12 valve motor. it had a few bearings turned in the bottom end and i picked it up pretty cheap so basically i have everything off of that motor and im just trying to get a list together of what else i need to do it bc i want to have everything i need before i start the swap so i can get it done and get it done right. curious on who to go to for lines and what size to get also. any heal is greatly appreichated!

and also what are good used vp44s going for right now because id like to sell it once i take it off

how can i tell if i have one?
also is there any write ups on the whole swap?

Tate your right they do. Use the search button there are a bunch of threads about it

im doing the swap as we speak if i leave out the cam sensor what all will i lose if anything?

Your truck doesn't have one anyways for the hundreth fuking time!!!!!!!!

If the 2k's are like 99's then they do actually have one.... but you still don't need it if it has a crank sensor.

well im positive mine is a 2000 and positive it has a cam sensor... if rpms are all i will lose i will block off the hole in the back of the gear case and hammer on. just wondering what else i will lose

I see, my 99 had one with a connector attached to it. I took it out when i did the swap and everything still worked. The cam gear did not have a tone ring though.

ive got mine at tdc and with the cam sensor out you can see a small hole in the cam gear im guessing this is where the cam sensor gets its signal as the hole passes the sensor? mine also has a plug with wires coming out of it lol

Just did a swap on a '99 model. No cam sensor. Everything still works perfectly. If I remember correctly, the vendors here that sell the adaptors advertise for 01-02 models? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, as far as write ups: The sticky for the parts list done via Roachie is a perfect one. If you start at the very first post in this section of P-Pump 24v you'll know how to do it by the time you've reached most current post. Trust me.

All 24v VP trucks have a cam sensor. 98-00 trucks have crank sensors, which is where the tach and ECM gets its signals from. 01-02 uses the cam sensor for tach and ECM signals. 01-02 cam gears have tone rings for the sensor. 98-00 trucks have a hole in the back of the gear, no tone ring. If your cam gear doesn't have a tone ring, then the cam sensor is more or less useless, and it won't cause any issue if you don't install it. But you will need something to plug the hole with, and most kits come with the cam sensor relocation kit, its easier to bolt it in place than it is to fab up a block off plate.
