P1693

I'm sure this has been beat to death but I was unable to find a clear answer to my issue.

After I clocked out of work today I went to start my truck and I had nothing. Figured my battery connections were bad so I cleaned them and put them back on. All was fine and started. The whole way home I had a check engine light and the conpanion code 1693. Got the check engine light to clear then left it sit for about 3 hrs. Came back out to try and start it again and it will crank but wont fire. I'm at a loss and I'm afraid I may have fried an ecm or lost the VP.

The P1693 is a generic code alerting of a DTC set in both the PCM and ECM. The other code(s) should flash after P1693 does.

I have a 2000 with same issue....ran all of Chip Fishers tests on the pump and it passed with flying colors...can't seem to get any answers on what the problem is..cranks and cranks but wont start..

Could be several things. My 1st guess s a dying VP, but it could be a bad overflow valve, or an airleak @ the return on the back of the head.

Unfortunately I think it may be a dying VP. My truck has lost its balls on the top end. Now granted, it didn't have any balls on the top end in the first place because of the 4.10's but it is much worse now.
