painting chrome

has anyone painted that chrome finish over plastic? im looking at picking up a set of chrome door handles and getting them painted body color. wondering if it would hold up if i scuffed the finish off.

My grille is painted...has held up for 1.5 years now. I think he put some adhesion promoter on it when he painted it as well.

Proper preparation must be made, but painting chrome is relatively common. Alsa Co makes many paint products for chrome. Check them out here: http://www.alsacorp.com/paints.htm
