I just installed a South Bend DD in my 99' 5-speed, and for some reason my park brake got soft at the same time? Before removing the transmission it was stiff and would hold ery solid, but now it is very soft and you must push it all the way to the floor for it to engage. Also it shifts through the gears fine, but when you put it into reverse you have to force it and it will grind. If you start the truck with it in reverse you have no problems.

shift trans into 1st or 2cd with it running, then go into reverse...

push in clutch and put it in 5th then go down into R, had an older chevy and that was the only way I could ever keep it from grinding.

As for the park brake that could be just one of those things that happend at the same time.

Perfect both of these ideas worked great! But the soft brake pedal problem is still there. I there anything that could be pinched, or blocked off cause this problem?
