How in sam hale do yo get the rotor off to change the parking brake pads out on a 2002? I removed the bracket that the caliper attaches to, and figured I would slide the rotor off. Uhhh no. Sprayed a little pb blaster and gave it a few taps. Nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

bigger hammer they get a little lip on the inside and dont slid nice if your putting new rotors on just hig on them other wish a block of wood

Holy crap Travis. I just hit new thread to type the following and saw your post. So there is a parking brake pad in addition to the regular brake pads? WTF? I didn't know that...I feel dumb now. Please post more info. I really need mine fixed! Does your 2002 have 4 wheel disks?

Here is what I was going to post.....
I've had it with the parking brake on this truck. I can't even pull up to a fuel pump and get out without it taking off. I have to stop the truck and put it in gear. I had about 11,000 pounds of steers in a trailer yesterday and couldn't make it stay to get out and put in fuel. Dammit man!!!

Now, my question is ... is there anyway to tighten the dayum thing? I'm assuming the reason it won't hold is that the cables have stretched of the little cam deally at the hub that actuates it is worn. I can't see under the dash to see if there is any adjustement there on the foot thingy and the remove/repair/replace manual for this truck sucks. It doesn't show anything.

Does anyone have any tricks to making it hold better? I have new brake pads all the way around, about 3 weeks old. Hopefully the rotors haven't wore too far. They have about a .010-.015 lip on them now. Surely 15 thousandths wear on both sides isn't too much...huh?

Holy crap. I completely missed that part. I read the manual again and I'll be dammed...there are another set of pads! I feel sooo dumb. Thanks for your post, now I know what I need to do....buy parts. :hehe:

The last set I did it took a lot of PB blaster and a hammer to bust that rotor off. You can try to back the pads off using the star wheel on the back lower part of the rotor but I dought you will get much help that way. Use a piece of wood to keep from damaging the rotor and beat the heck out of it :bang

Thanks guys. I guess I was being a little to much of a puss with the hammer.:bang I didn't want to break anything. Jory- I got mine at Napa they were like $99 with a $9 core charge. BTW-does anyone know what the runout is for the rotor. I didn't even bother measuring mine yesterday, but I guess I will since I have to take the tires back off.

Local dealer was $93.00 for the pair and NAPA was $35.79, they didn't mention a core so I'll have to find out.

Were they hard to put on? I may have to do this tomorrow on my day off. :D .... now that it is f'in 37 deg F outside...
