Payouts for street/modified diesel vs. hot farm tractors

Not sure about in your area, but around here most small towns have a tractor pull once a summer that somehow comes up with $1500 added money for the hot farm tractor class (usually one or two classes). This used to be the class to watch (brought in the crowds if you will). These same pulls have been having diesel trucks pull the last 4 or so years and are really turning out to be quite the show. Crowds are much bigger, attendance is up, and most the crowd leaves after the trucks are done pullin.

How does it work in your area? Do they throw extra money in for the diesel truck classes or do the hot farm classes still take it all home?

In my opinion, a stock or street diesel class could still just be a 100% payout class, but they should also run more of a modified class (2.8" maybe) and split the added money for payouts with the hot farm class.

What do you think?

If theres more money for me to win, its a good thing.

I've never pulled at a fair or anything like that so I wouldnt know how the payout works.

I pull with an association that has several tractor classes with automotive type motors, 4x4 mod gas trucks, 2 wheel drive mod trucks, hot farm tractors, and our class 2.8 street diesel. They pay out to 7th place every time in all classes, and each class gets the same pay out. $150 for 1st---$25 for 7th.

Then we have all diesel events that have really good payouts for 1st, 2nd and3rd place and nothing for 4th and below.

well we have one at all the fairs basically 2 a week in july and one a week the other months but theres a fair this year running the pro mod gas truck class 2.6 and 3.0 diesel and for tractors hot, pro, and limited pro and as of right now the 2.6 pay is $750 pays 10 places and 3.0 is $2250 and pays 10 place said if theres a big enough turn out the payout will go up on all classes

I'm just talking about local brush pulls, no idea what the payouts would be at a fair.

Typical payouts at brush pulls here are for the top three places and range from maybe $75 to $40 for first place. You are lucky if it even covers your entry fee and fuel to get to the pull.

Around here the payouts are between $50-$100. for first. Then they have 1/2 take tickets that go off.

well here a local fair pull is a brush pull they pulling assocation just sets them all up during county fairs the one i pull in doesnt even pay really but the north mo ones pay $150, $75, and $50 every pull some are more

i figured yall got paid with coon dog puppies, rastlin tickets, cans of spam, and pabst blue ribbon beer.

:hehe: Nah, just collect our $100.00 & walk up to our toothless wives singing "We are the Champions".:rockwoot:

We'll be lucky to get one payout event each year.:bang The rest are trophys, plaques, bragging rights or nothing at all.

Even though I own a diesel pickup, I won't watch sledpulling unless it's the tractors. There's something entertaining about the tractors that isn't there with the trucks.

I enjoy watching the hot farm classes, they are fun to watch. However the 4-6 hours of stock tractor classes really suck. You see the same tractor that billy bob, his wife, his son, and his 2nd cousin all pull in the same class, then add 1000 lbs and pull in the next class, and so on. You may see the same tractor pull 25 times in one night...

that is freekin funny cuz my girlfriends family is into that and your right 3 differant people pull the same tractor then add wieghts and do it again.... although they did have me pull cople weeks ago it is fun but its deffintly notlike pullin a truck

i for one could careless to see the big tractors pull... for some reason the trucks are what i like to watch.

HOW ABOUT WHEN THEY THROW IN A 2.5 MPH SPEED LIMIT??

I like the hot smoker tractors, the big turbo, big power stuff. But the stockers bore me, heck even stock diesels and gassers bore me.

As for payouts I quit going to the events that don't pay out. I may sound like a prick but thats ok, not everyone has to like me. If I spend $30k to build a truck to compete with then I expect to have something to compete for. Nobody is in this to make money because it will never happen, but going out and knowing you are risking that $30k machine blowing up so you can go home with your ego stroked and empty pockets doesn't make it fun for me. If I have a chance to win just enough to cover my fuel and entrance fee I am happy. Some places are finally paying out enough that it covers expenses and I can provide food for those that are hanging out with me and helping.

I just don't like some places expect us to pay $50-100 in fuel to travel, $15-30 to get in the gate/pits, $20 to hook per class, and then hand you a $2 plaque as a thanks for showing up and making their event a success. Without the pullers there is no show, my friends and I won't support a place that doesn't appreciate those that put the show on.

This is just my opinion, if you don't like it then click the little red X.

I agree 100% TJ. By the time I pay fuel, gate fees for my wife and I and the kids, then the concessions, you can't come out ahead period. Around here, most of the crowd shows up to watch the trucks anyways...

I'm not trying to make any money doing this, but it would be nice to cover the expense of getting there or even the gate/entrance fee.

I wish I could do as you stated and just not show up for the pulls that don't pay, but there just aren't that many around.

I'm thinking along of the lines of contacting all the pullers in this corner of the state and trying to form a small pulling organization. Actually have some rules, we could tech the trucks at the pulls, and have a fixed payout at each pull.

Just an example, a local pull would be required to pay $200 first, $150 second, $100 third in order to have the organization pull at that location.

Simple rules... 8000 lbs... 2.6" class or 2.8" class (don't think they could pull two classes with payouts, but could be wrong)...

I agree 100% TJ. It sucks when you blow a clutch & realize that you burnt up $1000 clutch to win $50. I know we'll never win big money, but I expect to have a chance at getting my hook fee back if I put on a good show. Listie was like that, only gave out trophies. This season, they give cash & a 1st place ribbon.
