Im thinking of putting a k31 71/78 on my truck. I have a 64/71/14 and I run out of air up top. I can make 45psi+ in first gear with no lock up@29* seems to act like a stock charger on my truck and needs more air for top end. How street friendly are they? What psi are you guys running? I cruise at 10psi at 1800 rpm on the freeway. Will I make any boost crusing?

When I ran a K31 I didn't see any boost cruising till 80mph. After 80 cruising it would see a couple pounds.

It took a lead foot and patients to get my K31 to start to light.

Exhaust housing size will dictate how it does on the street. I really liked my PhatShaft71 and it wasnt that bad on the street. However it had a .84 wastegated housing on it. I really liked the charger but durability may be an issue if you abuse it.

71 is a great charger I wouldn't tow with it LOL but they can be built to have great street manners, I have only exploded one K31 and it was alot of nitrous and it was the turbine wheel that went, I love the K31 it can be a great turbo for a many applications

With the little I've driven my truck with the PS71, it seemed ok. I did make a few PSI on the freeway. Lemme know if you wanna try mine off my truck, chad.

I may want to Greg. Im just not sure if I want to do twins, and a few people told me to try a k31 out. Have you started building your twins yet?

Chad, try the PS71. With a .85 A/R you should have no problem spooling it especially with you Loosey Goosey converter.

I have a A5k (k31) and love it. I cruise about 5-10 psi on the highway and will light fairly quick. I'll see 60psi in the right pedal but normally about 55psi on a hard launch. It makes some turbo bark and has a little surge but you deff can drive around it. I have it on a 2nd gen manifold and i think my Hamilton cam cam may help as well. As far as temps it runs warm at 800 to 1000 deg till you get on it, the temps either start rising very slow or they cool down. I think my 90hp sticks are fairly clean but they will smoke good with it. Deff some bigger ones would help the turbo spool but maybe not as street friendly. Hope it helps! Good luck

i would run a custom 68mm from ED they are bad a$$ chargers, NickTF has a thread going about his and my freind has one two , I beleive that is also what I am gonna run on my street truck

Whats it bassed on? s300,s400, k31?

The s468 is a great charger, it's not small by any means. However, last I talked to Chris they were working on some even smaller turbine housings for it to make it light even faster than the current .90 or .80 housings. See what they have to say.

I'm currently running mine with a quick spool flange which shuts off one of the volutes effectively halving the turbine size until opening pressure of the volute blocking butterfly is reached. I'm still ironing out some issues but i'm very happy with it, light the charger much faster!

I will be visiting the track soon hopefully, been slacking on gettting the truck back after making several changes including more timing, the quick spool flange, gutting grid heater, and a few other things small.

Nope, first task is getting new tires on the truck, hooking up the wastegate and rewiring the batteries in the bed of the truck. I'm going to buy a house before I start tossing thousands of dollars into chargers, so twins are on the back burner for awhile.

Lemme know if you wanna try out the charger or drive my POS around. I doubt you'd have a hard time spooling it. I think it spools pretty good, but my converter is looser than stock and I have the 13mm pump. Not too sure how much that'll affect things.

I have some cable at my shop that you can have to do your batterys. Ill get a hold of you this week and we can try and meet up.

Chad, go with an S400, I have run both K31 and S400 in my twins, K31 seemed to spool a tiny bit better than my S400 (but didn't seem to like the N20 in my case, not sure whats up with that) also the K31 is dimensionally larger than the S400 and a bit more expensive and your going to want what ever extra room you can get being the picky bast*rd that you are :poke:
