pics of block , id help- is it a 53 12v ?

hope these pics work. i can buy this motor cheap for a build. its in excellent shape. 150k miles. like to verify block before i tear into it. its in a 98 ford ryder truck. want to make sure its not brazil cast 53 block that cracks !

you can small 53 under the dail symbol under the alternator. the other pic is of second oil drain. the raised casting has a waffle iron ? texture.

still not sure if its the one that cracks. they had larger 53 number cast on them i thought.

Not all 53 blocks crack.If you are worried though,I call Scheid and they sell bare blocks.Just and idea?

there is 3 place to look and where that 53 is 1 of them.

The 53 block issue's were with the 24V not the 12V

They have cracked on 12v too... Just not as many...

If you are worried, don't get it. It'll always be in the back of your mind.

ok. thanks for the replies. truck build date is 3-97. block probably cast late 96.

all ive ever heard of 53 blocks in 12v are in the 98 trucks right before they switched to 24v
