Can some people post pictures of the front suspension area of their trucks? preferrably the pitman arm-to-tie rod connection area. Anyonewho knows me knows i have had this issue for a while and about every 300-600 miles (depending on the terrain) i have to tighten up my tie rod end before it falls out. no castle nut available from MOOG or MasterPro. :bang

Anyway, can i see pictures of ya'lls trucks under there just to make sure im doing it right? its got me worried.

Thanks, Adam

This picture is a picture of a 4x4 dodge, see how the tie rod end goes UP into the pitman arm?
thats how i made my truck. but....

This one is a lot harder to spot because of the dirt and grime but the tie rod end is going DOWN into the pitman arm... this seems more logical i just didnt think it was like that when i tore it down last time.

Brother sent me a pic of his, it's that way also.
So theres no castle nut on it at all? I don't think I've seen parts come that way, is the stud drilled?

it should only go one way, isnt there a taper in the pitman arm? i cant believe there isnt a castle nut and pin, you could get a lock nut, and/or a good tack weld would work

Well i had a lock nut on one set that i bought and apparently i torqued it down too far and a month later it snapped while turning in a parking lot, then i warrentied it out for another and it came with a non-drilled studd or anything but a nut with blue lock-tight in it to hold. it backs itself out. So im guessing a good tack could solve my problems if it doesnt snap it again....

Lol look in my threads some where there is pictures of it snapped

I would think blue loctite would hold but if not you could try red, a locking nut or if enough thread showing just double nut it. Or one of my favorites from running big single 4 stroke motorcycles years ago just use some silicone seal on the threads and bolt end. Never had one come loose doing it that way long before we even heard of loctite. I still use that method many times instead of looking for my loctite. Still works.

Lol I'll do that and check results

With loctite, remember to clean it well, both surfaces, using something like carb or brake cleaner. Red loctite (271) is some bad to the bone stuff when used correctly. I think you have some other issue going on here though, have you checked to see if the tapered hole in the pitman arm might be worn out of round? It sounds like what is happening the nut is pulling tight but maybe the arm hole is a bit loose. That teensy tiny bit of slop will allow the tension/torque to come off the nut and work loose.

I didn't know it was tapered so it very well could be. I might as well replace it. When I get the chance. If it is egged a little it'll probably help play in the steering wheel too then yeah?

mine drops in from the top with the nut on the bottom side of the pitman arm.

Well I fixed the whole setup with some loctite and haven't had anymore problems but had to buy two new tires and put em on the back. So now it steers even worse because I've got work tires on front and new tires on back... Just wants to pull me everywhere
