Got around today to checking all of my clearances with with flycuts and piston to head clearance. I had mocked everything up with a used .010 previously crushed with o-rings. For the valve clearances i came up with ~.078 and the piston to head was ~.048. How little is acceptable for a high rpm motor build? I was/still am planning on running a stock headgasket.

Then my other queston, When they rate compression on pistons is there a certain piston to head they go by at all? Would like to get an idea where id be sitting with my 286110's would be with .038 piston to head clearance.

.08 on the intake valve, and I like .100 on the exhaust valve as minimum. Your piston clearance should be fine.

I did not build for high rpm, but I was told .070 intake and .090 exhaust was fine. Mine is a little more then that.

Alright, thanks. I got .148 on the exhaust so i got plenty of room.
