Planetary ?

How many people have broken a planetary in there transmission? Is a common occurance? Thanks Tom

It happens, but I wouldn't say it is common. The one that I know that was broken was an aluminum carrier, guy had a set of slicks on it, was doing a burnout in reverse, and pow!

Aluminum cased planets do brake...6 pinion steel planets don't!

I broke the OD planetary in my truck doing a burnout. My truck came with a 4 pinion OD planetary and I was told it was supposed to have a 6 from the factory.

My brother broke an aluminum planetary in his truck while sled pulling. Upgraded to steel with no problems.
