I purchased a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 new with 24 valve Cummins. After 4 years I took it in to a local dealer for a recall on the receiver hitch. They change my program without my knowledge. I got 9 MPG highway. I have tried everything to get it back. I went to another dealer but they said that once it is changed they don't know what the previous program was. They tried other programs. They got me up to 14 MPG but if I pull anything it goes to 8-9 MPG. I put in bigger injectors, a new lift pump, a TST programmer, 4 inch exhaust. I have tried just about everything but it doesn't get any better. Anyone have any constructive suggestions?

I would be looking at a Smarty.
I bet thier programs can fix it.
Search for Bob Wagner.

Smarty is a tuner and it loads custom tunes to your trucks ecm. You can find contact info for Bob Wagner in the vendors section under Smarty Power, I believe. And you might be able to find one for sale in the For Sale section in this forum.

What is it you're pulling? If you're towing something 8-9 mpg may not be unreasonable.

Yeah it depends on what you towing? You cant tow 15000lbs and expect to get good mpg. When I tow our toyhauler I don't even check the mpg.
