Pop Testing???

whats the deal with pop testing? i just got off the phone with a local diesel shop. and they are telling me that you need an special too to keep pens some lined up. if i dont use this tool the truck will run away on me, and all this fun stuff. to top it all off, there telling me there are different kinds of kits and they might not even be able to do it. but if they can do it ,they wana charge me $20-50 per injector. can anyone shead some light on the matter?

Generally you pop test the injector to make sure all of the injectors are popping off at the same pressure, and that this pressure is correct for the application. I can't see the truck running away due to incorrect pop pressure, running like crap? Yeah, been there, done that, but not running away. Holler at some shops outside of your hometown, see what they say, might be worth sending them off.
