pops at idle, eats fuel

I have a 98.5 5 spd 24v new cr head with 093 conector tubes. 120 injectors, hx40 turbo, 95gph fass, banks air horn, KnN filter, no box(adreniline next week). My truck sounds fine at start up. When its up to temp i have a poping sound from the exhaust. Its not a consistant pop. it goes something like pop..pop pop.....pop pop pop. pop sounds like a miss if it was a gas motor. Allso it seems to be eating the fuel. Without abox it seems to me throwing and good hazzy smoke. Any one have any good ideas on symtoms.

yea i mean drop in mpg. It seems like i can watch the needle slowly move to E. I would maybe understand loosing mpg if i had a box hooked up and it was rolling black smoke out my stacks. It could get better with the box, more boost to burn the fuel. The poppy idle is weird to. its not a lope just popy.

I would try swapping our the injectors.

I would check for a loose cross over tube.

Recheck your valve lash, especially the exhaust... .10" intake, .020" exhaust.

The clearances close up when everything gets to normal running temperatures. If you're a little tight on one, it might leak when the motor heats up.

Im going to check the lash this weekend, should i get my truck up to temp and then check my valve lash or when its cold.

Check the valve lash cold. The colder the better.

checked valves everything came out fine. The pop is still there. My conclusion is the connector tubes or just crappy injectors

no it dosent pop like a exhaust leak. You can pop the hood and watch the motor shake when the pops happen. It sounds like my vp is skipping a beat or something. Its a new pump and it dosent even have 3000 miles on it

I'm gonna bet on an injector being not quite set right, heats up and starts screwing up.

you could have a valve seat start to drop and not closing all the way. My brothers 03 sounded like that at idle for over a year before the valve seat actually dropped.
