Alright I will try my best to explain what happened. Last weekend I went home for Easter Break from college and my dad heard the power steering pump on my truck squelling and making noise. We decided to change it before it went out on me when I went back to college(6.5 hour trip). Here starts the fun
We ordered the pump through a small town parts shop that our repair business deals with in Albion. The pump came in we swapped it in around 30 minutes all done so we thought. Start the truck and nothing no steering no nothing. So we figure the pump we got was garbage ordered another from Auto Zone.
Next day when new pump arrived we went BY THE BOOK and pulled the vacuum pump and all. Put the entire unit back in the truck with the Auto Zone PS pump on it. Started the truck and again ,no steering. We discovered that the pump we removed had the check valve removed so we removed the check valve out of the Auto Zone pump again nothing. We tried all forms of testing pulling lines off, did the jack stands turning to "bleed" the system and nothing worked.
Out of frustration put the old pump on the truck and it immediately worked fine. Sorry for the book of a situation but I was wondering if anyone at all can help on this I don't want to have my pump fail and have no idea where to get one that fits. There was only one option for power steering pump for the diesel at both places technically two but the only difference was the magnetic filter.
Any help is appreciated Ask any questions if you need
